How to live a purposeful life
It was a time when I didn’t know that I could do it, I mean really do it. It clicked in my head and heart when I realized I had a real shot to play in the NFL. I was a little too husky still, and still a lot out of shape. I was sitting there looking at the TV and I felt something speak to me , “go for it!” A whisper, an inspiration , that still small voice that at that moment gave me the courage and erased all my doubts and fears about , “What if’s” or “what about” or “can I really.” All it took was that one moment and everything changed. It literally went from my head to my heart.
I wish that I could tell you that from that point on everything worked out smoothly. HaHa I’d be lying and also shortcutting your progress and journey. It was a journey full of pain, heart break, battling with consistent doubt, some negative folks, and the desire to want to quit at times.
Here is where I encourage you, the one thing that kept me on task and on purpose was , are you ready for it? “It was consistent action.” Yep, you heard me right , it was my consistent action. If I wasn’t working on my stamina or strength, I was watching film, or reading magazines, news paper articles in the sports section or taking about it with family and friends. The dream of playing in the NFL consumed me.
So, how do you live a purposeful life? You take that passion you have built up inside of you and you take daily action, real action! You won’t get there over night and I hope you don’t think it will happen overnight. The biggest reason I hope it doesn’t happen over night is that the journey has so many obstacles and challenges and tools for you to develop and grow and the process of growth will benefit you in so many areas of life. Believe Me.
