It's All A Distraction?!

This may not be popular statement, but “this year has been a distraction for lots of people.” I mean come on you have the pandemic of Coronavirus, you have riots, protest, home school, quarantined life etc. So which leads me to my point.

Have you ever been so out of it , that you forget how to do the thing you had been or started doing? Your routine that you had the day that you got things going in 2020 and you started the new year were working out and then…bam! A distraction a major life change or what is currently happening in the world today.

It’s All A Distraction.I’m gonna give you one tip of what really helps me to get back or stay on track and re-engage myself when I was so distracted this year. I just wrapped up a training on consistency and this is what I was reminded of the step needed to take.

1. Reset your sights — keep them low for now, meaning when I got started with the new habit what did I do purposely to get started?  Whatever was easiest, one would say what ever made me feel good.

So for instance if I was to work out and want to get in shape or healthy fit, the first thing I would do is make my mind to walk through the doors of the gym if able to, or walk around the block etc.. It wasn’t to work out for an hour or lift for an hour and a half or go to an aerobics class it was just basically can I walk in the door of the gym, literally pull my car into the parking lot, park then get out of my car and walk to the gym open door and step in.(Success)

What sometimes I think people do is forget that it’s a long term race. If you have to decide it’s something long-term that you’re committed to this thing over the long-haul, good! This is not that you’re trying to get something done in 21 days or 30 days or 60 days(short term goals are fine) like I’m gonna lose the 20 pounds but if you say to me you know what over the course of my lifetime it could take me a year, could take me two years to get there, could take me three years I’m committed to this thing long-term. Saying, “I made a decision back in January or back in March, February whatever it is I made a decision to make myself better to just do it. I need to make a priority my finances or family relationships or health or whatever it is you made a decision. I consider it a long-term decision so if you get the derailed or you get disrupted or you get knocked off your consistent effort.

So I encourage you take the guesswork out of your success and do the things that got you there in the first place, stick to the basics. Go back to the basics so when you’re derailed, that you lock into the consistent effort. It’s OK, listen it’s OK to make mistakes to get distracted, just jump back up and just get started again do the simplest task that’s right in front of you..

This is more than just rockin body although it is a great step to looking at ways to improve other areas in your life, but you need to get back up and move forward. It is time to re-establish your dreams and goals with this new normal. We need you to clear out the distractions and move forward.

God bless you maximizers and thanks for your attention-Coach Milton
